Trueleaf Creator Terms
These are the terms of the Trueleaf creator programme. By joining the programme, accepting a gift, or using your Trueleaf affiliate link or discount code, you agree to them.
Questions: daniela@trueleaf.com
1. What you receive
- Product. Free product selected for your pet, shipped to you at no cost. Yours to keep.
- Your own discount code, giving your audience 10% off their order.
- Commission. 10% of the order value on every sale made through your link or code, for as long as your code is active. Commission is held for 60 days after the order, then paid to you through Shopify.
- Your link and code never expire unless you ask us to close them or either side ends this agreement.
You are not required to buy anything, ever.
2. What we ask of you
If you choose to post about Trueleaf after receiving product:
- One post to your own feed, as a Reel, carousel or equivalent, within 30 days of delivery.
- Tag us as a collaborator on Instagram (@trueleafpet) so the post appears on our page too.
- Send us your raw footage. The unedited clips, not only the finished cut. A Drive or WeTransfer link to daniela@trueleaf.com is fine.
- Use your link or code in the caption and in stories.
If you do not want to post, that is fine. Tell us and keep the product. There is no debt here.
3. Honesty
We never ask you to say you liked something. If the product does not suit your pet, say nothing, or say what you actually found. We would rather have your silence than your endorsement of something you do not believe in.
Any post must be your own real opinion and reflect your own real experience.
4. Disclosure
Canadian law, and the platforms’ own rules, require you to disclose that this is a paid or gifted partnership. On every post about Trueleaf:
- Use Instagram’s Paid partnership label, or TikTok’s Branded content toggle, and
- Include #ad or #sponsored near the start of the caption, not buried at the end.
This applies to gifted product as much as to paid work. It protects you as much as us.
5. Health claims: the one hard rule
Trueleaf makes pet supplements, which are regulated. There are things neither of us is allowed to say, however true they might feel.
You may not say or imply that a Trueleaf product treats, cures, prevents, heals or fixes any condition. Not arthritis, not anxiety, not allergies, not pain, not any diagnosis.
Some examples of what we cannot say:
- "This cured my dog’s arthritis"
- "This fixed her separation anxiety"
- "Stopped his joint pain"
- "Better than the vet’s medication"
What you can say:
- What you observed, as your own experience, without naming a condition
- That it supports normal joint, mood or dental function
- That it is made in our own plant in Vernon, BC
- That it is veterinarian formulated
Before you post, send us your script or caption. We will turn it around quickly. This is not us editing your voice, it is us keeping a regulator away from your account and ours. It is the one step in this agreement we cannot waive.
If a post goes up with a claim we cannot support, we will ask you to edit or remove it, and you agree to do so promptly.
6. Content rights
This is the part that matters most to us, so it is written plainly.
When you send us footage or post about Trueleaf, you grant Trueleaf Petcare Inc. a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, edit, reproduce and display that content and your pet’s likeness, in:
- Paid advertising on any platform
- Our website, emails and social accounts
- Retail and trade materials
Perpetual means the licence does not expire, including after this agreement ends. We paid for the content in product and commission, and we will still be running the good clips in two years.
What this does not mean:
- You keep ownership of your content. This is a licence, not a sale.
- You can still post, sell or license it elsewhere. Nothing here is exclusive.
- We will not resell your raw footage to another company.
- We will not use your content to imply a claim you did not make.
- If you ask us to stop using a specific piece for a genuine personal reason, we will listen.
You confirm that the content is yours to license: you shot it or have the right to it, any person appearing in it has agreed, and it contains no music or footage you do not have rights to. Music in particular: a trending sound you can use on Instagram is usually not cleared for us to run as an ad, so the clean versions you send should have no music on them.
7. Exclusivity
There is none. Work with whoever you like. We only ask that you tell us if you are actively under contract with a competing pet supplement brand at the time we send you product, so nobody ends up embarrassed.
8. Ending it
Either of us can end this at any time, for any reason, by saying so.
If it ends: your code stops working, and any commission already earned is still paid. The content licence in section 6 survives, for content created before the end date.
9. The boring bits
- You are an independent creator, not a Trueleaf employee, contractor or agent. You cannot speak on behalf of Trueleaf or make commitments for us.
- You are responsible for your own taxes on commission earned.
- You must be 18 or over.
- These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
- If we change these terms, we will tell you before the change applies to you.
